MAC El Capitan OS Resolution

Resolving Issues Scanning with your Kodak Alaris Scanner on Apple’s El Capitan OS V10.11 and higher

If you are having problems scanning after installing El Capitan OS V10.11 or higher, follow these instructions:

El Capitan includes an important new security feature called System Integrity Protection, or "SIP". This feature prevents programs from modifying certain protected areas of your machine including the System directory, even if you have administrator privileges (or "root") on your machine.

The Kodak Alaris driver needs to be able to access these protected areas of your Mac during the installation of both the ADF and Flatbed drivers and while running with the Flatbeds attached and turned on.

If you are scanning with any Mac supported Kodak Alaris ADF Scanners (models PS50, PS80, i940, i1150, i1180, i2400, i2420, i2600, i2620, i2800, i2820, i3200, i3400) without an attached Flatbed or integrated Flatbed on a Mac with El Capitan OS (10.11) or higher
  1. Boot MAC into recovery mode - hold Command +R (Command Key and R key together) as the MAC boots
  2. Select Terminal under the Utilities menu to open a terminal window

    El Capitan - Utilities menu

  3. Type csrutil disable to disable System Integrity Protection

El Capitan - disable system integrity protection

  4. Reboot MAC by selecting Apple Restart
  5. Install latest ADF MAC Driver for your scanner
  6. Launch your scanning application and start scanning!
