Simplifying FADGI Compliance

Many federal agencies and service organizations have been struggling to fully understand the digital image quality guidelines issued by the Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative (FADGI) and prepare their document scanning operations for the June 30, 2024, compliance deadline. I’m proud to say that the public sector solutions team at Kodak Alaris continues to make FADGI compliance easy for these organizations, delivering solutions and training to optimize these important digitization efforts and instill confidence and peace of mind for agency management and staff.

Teaming up with our partners at Edge Digital Group, we recently helped a large, distributed federal agency dramatically improve its document management processes and meet these new regulatory compliance requirements. The agency needed to modernize its document management system to meet both operational and compliance demands. They had a mountain of paper backlogs to digitize and they needed to configure their solutions for both FADGI and non-FADGI scanning.

A Comprehensive Solution

The agency brought our trusted partners at Edge Digital Group on board to help them design and deploy a new document scanning system. Edge Digital Group relies on many technologies from Kodak Alaris, including our industry-leading FADGI scanning solutions. Together, we offered a mix of hardware, software, and professional services tailored to the agency's specific needs.

  • FADGI Document Scanners: FADGI scanners from Kodak Alaris can easily handle a variety of document types and sizes, with guaranteed output of FADGI 3-Star image quality. One of the key advantages of our FADGI scanners is their ability to toggle between FADGI and non-FADGI mode. This critical feature provides organizations with much-needed flexibility and added value: they can use our FADGI scanners for all document scanning needs, even when FADGI output isn’t relevant.
  • KODAK Capture Pro Software: The agency relies on Capture Pro to validate the images and output to PDF with the agency’s preferred file names applied automatically.

Together, the staff at Edge Digital and Kodak Alaris helped the federal agency to upgrade their scanning operations, prepare to deliver FADGI-compliant images for permanent archival, and become a model of success for other federal agencies. In addition, significant gains were made in efficiency, cost-savings, and employee satisfaction.
